It is an approach to yoga practice that encourages self-knowledge, reflection and transformation. Subtle Yoga takes an historical approach to the practice of yoga—with homage to the teachers who have come before and the full range of yogic practices. Along these lines: The practice of asana is undertaken as a means to balance the chakra system—and thereby balance the mental/emotional states as well as the body systems. Subtle Yoga asanas are repeated and often engage specific kumbhaka (gentle breath holding) techniques. Is based on the cultivation of inner awareness. A deepening self-awareness in the practice is as important as any external techniques. Balances the subjective and objective experience of yoga. Using instruction to guide inner experience can create a clearer pathway to self-expression.
