Subtle Yoga with Kristine Kaoverii Weber

Yoga for Detoxifying
6-week class series
Thursdays • 6:00–7:30 PM
February 25 – April 1

The yoga tradition offers many specific practices to clear away toxins. Yoga asanas are detoxifying because they increase blood circulation and also the circulation of lymph – which cleanses toxins from the body. In this 6 week series we will look at the yogic science of detoxification and choose practices which target the digestive organs to help clear away excess accumulated during winter. We will also use practices which detoxify the energy body (pranaymaya kosha) and mind. You will be introduced to some dietary measures you may want to implement during the 6 week series to accompany your practice. Other simple cleansing practices will also be introduced. Early spring is the perfect time to detox! Sign up now!

Cost for the six-week series: $60
Pre-registration is required and space is limited.

What is Subtle Yoga?

Subtle Yoga is not the same thing as Gentle Yoga. It is an approach to yoga practice that encourages self-knowledge, reflection and transformation.

Subtle Yoga takes an historical approach to the practice of yoga—with homage to the teachers who have come before and the full range of yogic practices.

Along these lines:

The practice of asana is undertaken as a means to balance the chakra system
—and thereby balance the mental/emotional states as well as the body systems. Subtle Yoga asanas are repeated and often engage specific kumbhaka (gentle breath holding) techniques.

Is based on the cultivation of inner awareness. A deepening self-awareness in the practice is as important as any external techniques.

Balances the subjective and objective experience of yoga. Using instruction to guide inner experience can create a clearer pathway to self-expression.
